Lead Through Voice Foundations
Grade 7
Duration: 1 year
Â
Lead Through Voice Foundations is a structured leadership and communication development programme designed for learners in Grades 6–7.
​
The programme introduces learners to the essential foundations of confidence, communication and leadership, helping them develop their voice, understand their strengths and build the skills needed to navigate the transition into high school with greater confidence.
​
Through engaging, practical and interactive learning experiences, learners are encouraged to express themselves, collaborate with others, approach challenges positively and begin recognising their potential to lead.
4. Leadership & Collaboration
Learners are introduced to the foundations of positive leadership and learn how effective communication contributes to successful teamwork. Through collaborative experiences, they develop responsibility, cooperation, initiative, problem-solving and positive influence while learning to contribute meaningfully, support others and work towards shared goals.

3. Listening & Interpersonal Skills
Effective communication begins with the ability to listen and understand others. Learners develop active listening, respectful communication and interpersonal awareness while learning how to respond thoughtfully, understand different perspectives, build positive relationships and communicate appropriately with peers and others.
2. Public Speaking & Self-Expression
Learners are introduced to the essential foundations of public speaking and effective presentation. Through practical speaking opportunities, they develop their voice, projection, eye contact, posture, body language and delivery, while learning how to organise and express their ideas in a clear, engaging and authentic way
1. Communication Confidence
Learners develop the confidence to communicate their thoughts, ideas and opinions clearly and effectively in a variety of situations. They are encouraged to speak up, participate in discussions, ask questions and communicate with greater confidence, while learning how to adapt their communication to different people and settings.

The Lead Through Voice Development Framework is built on the belief that communication and leadership skills should be developed progressively over time. Learners advance through three developmental tiers, spending one year in each stage before progressing to the next.

Tier 1: Foundation
Tier 1: Foundation is the entry level of the Lead Through Voice Development Framework. This stage is designed to help learners build confidence, develop self-expression, and establish the core communication skills needed for effective speaking and participation.

At this level, learners are introduced to the fundamentals of communication in a supportive and structured environment. The focus is on helping each learner overcome hesitation, develop clarity in speech, and build the confidence to express ideas in front of others.

Through guided activities, interactive speaking exercises, and structured communication tasks, learners begin to strengthen their ability to speak with confidence, listen actively, and engage meaningfully in group settings.

Tier 1 lays the essential foundation for all future development within the academy. Learners who complete this stage demonstrate improved self-belief, increased participation, and a stronger willingness to communicate in both academic and social environments.

This tier is the starting point of a structured developmental journey that prepares learners for progression into more advanced communication and leadership training.
Tier 2: Development
Tier 2: Development builds upon the foundational communication skills developed in Tier 1 and focuses on strengthening learners’ ability to communicate with clarity, structure, and confidence in more formal and expressive settings.

At this stage, learners begin to develop practical public speaking skills, presentation techniques, and more advanced communication abilities. The focus shifts from basic self-expression to structured communication that is purposeful, organised, and audience-aware.

Learners are guided through activities that develop presentation skills, verbal clarity, body language awareness, and the ability to communicate ideas effectively in front of groups. Emphasis is placed on building confidence when speaking to an audience and improving overall communication presence.

Through consistent practice and structured feedback, learners begin to refine their speaking abilities, improve their articulation, and develop stronger engagement with listeners.

Tier 2 is a critical stage in the developmental journey as it transitions learners from basic confidence-building into purposeful communication and public speaking development. Learners who complete this tier demonstrate improved presentation skills, stronger verbal expression, and increased confidence in formal speaking situations.

This stage prepares learners for advanced leadership-focused communication in Tier 3.
Tier 3: Leadership
Tier 3: Leadership is the most advanced stage of the Lead Through Voice Development Framework and is designed to develop learners into confident communicators with strong leadership presence, influence, and advanced public speaking ability.

At this stage, learners move beyond structured communication and begin to focus on leadership communication, persuasive speaking, and the ability to guide, influence, and inspire others through effective expression.
​
The emphasis is placed on developing leadership presence, confidence under pressure, and the ability to communicate ideas with clarity, authority, and impact. Learners are exposed to more complex communication tasks that require critical thinking, structured argumentation, and confident delivery.

Through guided leadership activities, advanced speaking exercises, and real-world communication scenarios, learners develop the ability to lead discussions, present ideas with conviction, and communicate effectively in leadership roles.
​
Tier 3 represents the culmination of the developmental journey within the academy. Learners who complete this stage demonstrate strong communication skills, leadership confidence, and the ability to express themselves as capable and influential young leaders.

This final tier prepares learners to transition from confident speakers into emerging leaders who can apply their communication and leadership skills in school, community, and future professional environments.
